Genius Kadungure aka Ginimbi Ginimbi was born on October 10, 1984 into a family of four in the region of Dombosheva. Ginimbi was an alumnus of the Great Zimbabwe University with a Masters of Business Administration. His venture into business began at an early age where he got involved in the sale of gas and fuel after a friend referred him to other clients. He was reported to have been one of the earliest re-sellers of LP Gas in Zimbabwe. Ginimbi displayed entrepreneurial skill as a young boy in the buying and selling of Muriwo – a green leafy vegetable rich in Iron and Folate and considered one of the traditional dishes in Harare.

The young Ginimbi would buy Muriwo from villages in Dombosheva and resell them in towns to make profit. He worked his way up as he ventured into other businesses which led to the formation of Genius Foundation and establishment of Piko Trading Holders as well as other business ventures outside Zimbabwe.

Ginimbi was a wealthy businessman who flaunted his wealth and luxurious lifestyle on social media. He regularly posted pictures of his fleet of exotic cars and a Ginimbi story without referencing his love for throwing all-white lavish parties is probably incorrect.

The late Ginimbi was a lover of parties and he held several of those in his lifetime. The most recent of these parties was a strictly by invitation all-white party to celebrate his birthday on 10th of October.

Prior to this, he reportedly held a 3-day party in Dombosheva to celebrate his newly built mansion. His flamboyant lifestyle however, did not go unnoticed by the authorities which frequently led to fraud allegations against him which he all denied.

In 2018, Ginimbi was accused of defrauding a South African businessman by the name Mutumwa Mamere. In 2014, he was also arrested on allegations of fraud as well as tax evasion and falsifying his company sales figures to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority.

It was a dark Sunday for Ginimbi on the 8th of November 2020, when he died in a ghastly motor accident along Borrowdale Road in Harare alongside three of his close associates; Moana, a model, Elisha and Karim.
It was alleged that Ginimbi had been partying with friends at his popular nightclub called ‘Dreams Nightlife Club’ in celebration of Moana’s birthday.
Eyewitness report confirmed that the 36year old was in his Rolls-Royce Wraith when the car collided with another car, veered off the road to hit a tree and exploded eventually.

According to ZBC News Online, “Witness reports that Ginimbe was still alive when he was pulled out of the car. They tried to assist the other passengers but failed to unbuckle seat belt. The vehicle then exploded into a ball of fire moments later. ”

The news of his death spread through social media as tributes continued to pour in from fans, family and friends across the country and continent.
The family of the late socialite have announced burial arrangements which is to hold in his mansion at Dombosheva on Saturday. The family also confirmed reports that it would be an all-white attire. This was disclosed by the deceased’s eldest sister, Juliet. She said, “Genius was a fun-loving character, he always reminded us about how he wanted his funeral to be conducted. ”

She continued, “Take time in planning for it, check my requirements and one of the things is that I want everyone who will be at my funeral to be dressed in all white.”

May his soul rest in peace!
