Dr. Adesegun, Nigerian Lawyer Joins One of the World’s Largest Law Firms on Earth

Dr. Adesegun A. Akin-Olugbade – one of Nigeria’s finest legal notabilities – has joined the ranks of the largest law firms in the world. He has joined the Clifford Chance as an Of Counsel to strengthen its Africa Practice.
After 30 years of service at Africa’s leading international financial institutions, he has decided to take up a new challenge by joining the global law firm.
According to information gathered, Clifford Chance said Adesegun will work side by side with other members of the firm’s Africa Practice. This arm of the company is under the control of the Regional Managing Partner, Anthony Giustini. “Dr. Adesegun will help increase the success of our African business, by leveraging off his exceptional legal expertise and network across Africa”.

“Africa is a strategic market for Clifford Chance, as many of our clients are making important investments in the region. The focus is on key sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, funds, PE, technology, oil and gas and energy (conventional and renewable)”.

A glimpse on Adesegun Akin-Olugbade’s Biography
Dr. Akin-Olugbade is the founder and Principal Partner of Luwaji Nominees (a partnership firm that provides support on clients’ corporate administration). He graduated from King’s College, London, and Harvard Law School, as well as the Nigerian Law School in 1984.
In 2012, the Federal Republic of Nigeria honored him with the National Honour of Officer of the Order of Niger (OON).
He served as the General Counsel, Corporate Secretary of Africa Finance Corporation (AFC). Furthermore, he served as the Chief Operating Officer and as an Executive Director of the AFC until December 2018. Prior to this, he was the Senior Director and General Counsel at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB).
During his sojourn at AfDB, he was responsible for contributing to the creation of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank). After the creation of the Afrexim bank, he served as the Chief Legal Officer.
