INEC To Declare Nigerian Election Results

As the air continues to remain tense in Nigeria over the results of the just concluded elections in Nigeria, the electoral umpire – INEC – is prepared to declare the results.
The chairman of the commission – Professor Mahmood Yakubu – arrived at the collation center about an hour ago to commence the announcement of the election results. Also observed to be present at the venue were the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd), and the spokesperson of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Kiyamo.
In most states across the federation, the election was peaceful except in some states like Rivers, Bayelsa, Lagos, and a few other places. Some Nigerians lost their lives to the violence that erupted in these areas. Some others were arrested for offenses which related to electoral malpractices like burning and stealing of electoral materials.
Shortly after assembling at the National Collation Center, the INEC chairman – Professor Mahmood Yakubu – stated the ground rules that must be adhered to by everyone that was present. After this, all the notable members of the commission that were seated at the high table were introduced.
One by one, all the party agents introduced themselves. The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) – Professor Mahmood Yakubu – identified himself as the agent of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

After these, the INEC chairman – Professor Mahmood Yakubu – pronounced the opening of the collation of the election results. The INEC chairman then began to display and explain the use and significance of each of the forms and papers that were used by INEC. Then, he showcased the result sheets for collation in alphabetical order while starting with Abia state.
