Hollywood actor actor John Boyega has announced that he will co-produce a new UK horror film called A Spriggan.
The Star Wars actor said the film will explore the monsters of real life through a dark, twisted, fairytale world
The Star Wars actor will be working on the project through his production company, Upper Room Productions, which he founded with agent and Identity Agency Group creator Femi Oguns.
He described it as a “new story worth telling”.
Boyega said: “I’m really excited to be joining A Spriggan and the team behind it. In my producing projects, I’m looking for filmmaker driven, world-building, cinematic pieces, and have found in Josephine Rose another producer who shares that creative vision and commercial ambition. We’re looking forward to working with Keir Burrows to explore the monsters of real life through a dark, twisted, fairytale world of the Spriggan. Very excited!”
Rose tweeted: “Very excited to announce this, and even happier to be working with the wonderful John Boyega and Keir Burrows.”
The search for the cast of A Spriggan is currently ongoing. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
The film is focuses on a recently widowed mother who returns to her father’s hotel and discovers the presence of sinister spirits haunting the property and its landherdline reported that the film’s crew includes the special effects team behind Rogue One, Gravity and Gladiator.
In Cornish folklore, a spriggan is a creature of legend from faery lore.
This will not be Boyega’s first foray into production. The 26-year-old recently co-produced Pacific Rim: Uprising, which he also starred in.
Boyega is currently shooting Disney’s Star Wars IX, directed by J.J Abrams.
