July 14: First Refrigerator invented by John Standard

This day July 14, the famous inventor, John Standard was awarded patent for making the refrigerator, 1891.
J. Standard as he fondly called his commonly ascribed with being the first person who invented the refrigerator. However, information has it that the U.S patent (455,899) handed over to him on the 14th of July, 1981 was a utility patent which is designed to improve an already existing patent.
Not much is said and known about the african-american refrigerator inventor, John Standard, save for that he is born to Joseph and Mary Standard in the famous city of New Jersey on the 15th day of June, 1868.
