Miss Earth Beauty Pageant returns as 16 contestants battle the crown
The 2019 edition of Miss Earth beauty pageant returns as sixteen contestants battle for the crown and other goodies. According to the pioneer of the pageant, Ibinabo Fiberesima, the winner won’t be walking around with the crown alone but will win a Grand Prize of $10,000.
The former beauty queen and actress revealed this shortly after the welcome party/press parley held at a Resort, at Eleko Beach, Lagos, ahead of Saturday, August 3 date for Miss Earth grand finale.
The 1997 Miss Wonderful said the first and second runner-up will respectively smile home with yet to be disclosed cash prizes, adding that the theme of this year’s edition is ‘flowers.’ It’s all about flowers.’
According to Fiberesima, during the grand finale, the contestants who are embarking on numerous advocacy campaigns will be made to tell a story on the environment. Also, in the build-up to the event, Ibinabo said the organizers working in partnership with Coca Cola, visited some market places, such as Lawanson market, Ajah market among others to clean and teach people how to dispose their waste and recycle it for profit-making.
Furthermore, the actress said the contestants were chosen based on their advocacy campaigns in addition to being a perfect combination of beauty and brain.
“Miss Earth is an annual event created to empower women who are role models and also to maintain and sustain environmental friendliness. It’s all about preserving mother earth, educating young girls on how to take care of the earth and teaching them how to preach to the people: taking their advocacy campaigns to their schools and homes,” Ibinabo said.
However, during the welcome party, the 2019 beauty queens in making shared their advocacy campaigns with the guests, while showing off their hot bums in hot bikinis.
