MLS Wave-Making Fanendo Adi Wants To Adorn Nigeria’s Colors in International Games

Fanendo Adi is a Nigeria-born star who is making waves in North America’s
Major League Soccer (MLS). He became Portland Timbers’ all-time leading
goalscorer before leaving the club a few months ago.
Three years before joining Portland
Timbers in 2014, Adi made two appearances in the Nigeria Under-23 team. In
2016, he was called up to join the Super Eagles in an AFCON qualifier against
Egypt, but his name was struck out by the time the final list was released
As it stands however, Adi is very
interested in representing Nigeria in international games.
Despite the disappointment, the 28-year-old has made it clear he’s still interested in playing for Nigeria. According to Football Live, Adi says he’s optimistic that he’ll get another invite in the future as long as he’s consistent with his performances.
According to him; “For me,
representing my country in its national colours is more of a fulfillment for me
career-wise.”
“I love Nigeria. I would not
hesitate or think it twice when it comes to serving my country…and if an
opportunity plays out for me, to be called up again, I am a 100 percent ready
for that.”
Not only is Adi ready to represent
Nigeria, but he also supports local clubs in the country. He recently donated
two million naira to Lobi Stars for their qualification to the group
stage of the CAF Champions League.
