Nollywood’s Latest Thriller ‘Sylvia’ a Compelling Tale of Love, Lust, Betrayal and Obsession
Nollywood latest thriller “Sylvia” directed by Daniel Oriahi and written by Vanessa Kanu, has an unforgettable music score.
Screened at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, the movie was created by TRINO Studios, creators of the award winning short films, “Las Gidi Cops” and “The encounter”, produced the film.
Sylvia is a compelling a tale of love, lust, betrayal and deadly obsession which ends shockingly and unforgettably.
The executive producer, Babatunwa Aderinokun, explained that the movie is centered on the cause and effect nature of relationships, mental health and the real versus the surreal world.
Chris Attoh stars as Richard the protagonist. Richard has always existed between the real world and a fantasy world; home to his friend and lover Sylvia (Zainab Balogun). Filled with passion and love, the two devotees embark on a journey of commitment.
Time and life goes on leaving Richard in a dicey situation. He is now faced with the decision on a future and full commitment, either to the real world with its demands or the surreal world that houses an increasingly frustrated Sylvia. Events unfold leading Richard on a downward spiral.
With respect to the cost of the movie, the producer Ekene Mekwunye averred;
“The movie cost about N50m to shoot and it took a span of three years and this was because we wanted to churn out a world class production. Its high time we began to produce films not for production sake but for value and with a great technical output. We are confident that Sylvia ticks the boxes,” he said.
The movie also stars Ini Dima Okojie, Udoka Oyeka, Lolo 1, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Lord Frank, Bolaji Ogunmola among others.
