Ghanaian-born British Indie rock Francisca Gawugah known as Sista Afia has been awarded as the best Female artiste at the just concluded Ghana Entertainment Awards USA. The artist known for Alternative rock, highlife and afrobeat was honored for being the most influential female artist in Ghana.
The 26-year-old has over the years been consistent and after dropping series of hit songs in and outside Ghana under the year review, which organizers of the event viewed as a right to honor her with the award.
Speaking On the award, manager of Sista Afia, Emmanuel Arhin (Bossu Kule) stated that, “We couldn’t have done these alone, Glory be to God.”
He further talked about the line-up of projects his artist has for the world
“My client is of no doubt among talented female musicians we have in Ghana and over the years, she has been working tirelessly to let the world recognize her talent. Sista Afia has a new album she’s currently working on; Canada and Europe tour as well as another concert which will be much dope than last years “Queen Solomon Xplode Concert” which pulled over 20,000 participants at the WestHills Mall.
Talking about her collaborations, Bossu Kule further said that they have a lot of collaborations with both foreign musicians and Ghanaian. He said they are planning on dropping two this year, one which features the current Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artist Of The Decade, Sarkodie and the Weytin You Gain hitmaker, Victor AD.
Sista Afia is currently promoting her new song titled “Weather” featuring the current VGMA Rapper of the year, Quamina MP and Medikal.
She came into limelight after releasing her single titles “Jeje”, which featured dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and Afezi Perry.
The artist has won numerous awards including 3 Music Awards 2018 (Female Act Of The Year); Social Media Music Awards 2019 (Album Of The Year); 3 Music Awards 2019 (Female Woman Of The Year) among others.
