Vanessa Mdee is is a Tanzanian musician, youth activist, TV and radio host and professional disc jockey. She is a young and talented beautiful lady who has created a name for herself in the whole of Africa as well as the world. She has released a couple of songs that are already causing ripples on the airwaves with top-notch videos that keep her fans glued to the screen.
Vanessa Mdee (Vanessa Hau Mdee) was born on 7th June 1988 in Arusha, Tanzania. She studied at Arusha Modern High School for her secondary and high level education. He attended university at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa to pursue a Law degree.
In early 2007 she auditioned for The MTV VJ Search in Dar es Salaam and she won. She joinedCarol and Kule to host the Coca Cola Chart Express.
In 2008 she worked with the Staying Alive Foundation. She visited Uwanja wa Fisi with then-Staying Alive Foundation Special Ambassador Kelly Rowland. Mdee also joined Malaria No More in their Z!nduka Campaign, a campaign aimed at the eradication of malaria.
In 2009 she hosted Senses, Sounds and Wisdom with Zantel during the annual Sauti Za Busara International Music Festival.
In 2011 she became the host host of 102.5 Choice FM’s The Hitlist which airs Monday to Friday between 7 – 10 pm. She has interviewed many artists such as K’Naan, Kelly Rowland, Mac Miller, Rick Ross, Ludacris, Miguel, Donald, Naazizi, Xtatic, Stella Mwangi, Camp Mulla, Tay Grin, Teargas, Dr. Sid and many more African and international acts.
She blogged as a roving reporter on behalf of MTV Staying Alive and UNAIDS on her Dynamites Mission website. She was MTV’s voice at the 2011 UNAIDS Mali Youth Summit in Bamako and the subsequent High Level meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, She participated in the International Conference on HIV and STI’s in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and cofounded (along with M. K. Asante) STANDWIDTH, under the UNAIDS umbrella.
In 2012 she hosted MTV ‘Base Meets’, a show geared towards empowering young Africans from around the world by sitting with an influential leader. In the same year she began working on her new Bongo 5 web series ‘Vee World Wide’, which is about her travels and encounters with various celebrities from around the world.
In 2013 she hosted MTV Base’s Hunter’s Oasis, a music festival around Africa with appearances from some of the African continents hottest artists and DJs. She also hosted Tanzania’s Epiq Bongo Star Search Season 7 and Dume Challenge Seasons 1 and 2.
In October 2014 Vanessa Mdee hosted the MTVBase series #MadeOfBlack with Ehiz.
Vanessa Mdee parents are the late Sammy Mdee and Sophia Mdee. Her siblings are Nancy Namtero Mdee media former KTN Str8 Up presenter who is now a gospel musician. Her younger sister Mimi Mars is a YouTube, TV personality, mcee and musician.Vanessa Mdee Songs.
