The MultiChoice Group has revealed its plans to sponsor 15 young girls from around South Africa to attend the Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology Week as part of its commitment to enriching lives.
The EBIT Week is currently held at the University of Pretoria from 30 June till 3 July 2019. it is a biannual holiday program for learners in Grades 10 to 12.
Learners will get to experience the various disciplines offered in the University’s EBIT Faculty as this will help them make informed career choices by becoming exposed to both the practical and theoretical aspects of each discipline.
Quoting the MCG’s CTO, Gerdus van Eeden
“We know only too well that there is a shortage of critical skills in Engineering and related technical fields in South Africa, especially among women, and we are seizing the opportunity provided by the University of Pretoria to encourage young girls to learn more about these fields”.
“Just as importantly, this initiative resonates with our own empowerment objectives. We invest heavily in programs that seek to build, develop and equip the youth to take advantage of the very many exciting opportunities that lie before them, and we hope that we can ignite a shared passion for the broadcasting industry during the seven-day program”.
