AMAA to hold 15th edition soiree in Ghana

Organizers of the Africa Film Academy Awards (AMAA) has announced that the 2019 edition soiree will hold in Ghana.
This announcement was made public in a recent tweet via AMAA’s official Twitter handle, “The Africa Movie Academy Awards will be taking the magic to Ghana this July. Let’s celebrate the stars in grand style.”
The awards ceremony which is billed to celebrate the best of Africa movie industry will hold its 15th edition in Lagos, Nigeria.
Speaking further, the organizers tweeted that the Ghana movie industry strives for excellence, hence the need to reward excellence.
Its further tweet reads, “The Ghana movie industry is one that is on the move towards achieving excellence, the Africa Movie Academy Award is one that is set to reward that excellence.”
The founder of AMA Awards Peace Anyiam Osigwe stressed that the AMAA is not in competition with any award organization saying AMAA has consistently rewarded excellence across Africa filmmaking industry for the past 15 years.
The Chief Executive Officer of AMAA revealed the achievements of the academy said it has trained more than 10,000 movie practitioners across Africa in the last 15 years. She also said the academy engages movie practitioners by providing opportunities in the movie industries across Africa.
On AMAA’s contribution to the African movie industry, Peace said the academy has changed the face of the industry, especially in quality control since the program was launched.
Ahead of the 15th edition, organizers of AMAA kicked off programs for the awards ceremony with a workshop and gala night in May 2019.
The Workshop which was held in Enugu had an attendance of over five hundred participants. The workshop achieved its primary agenda which is to create a paradigm shift in the African film industry.
In attendance were Afam Okereke, Ofiafuluagwu Mbaka, the Aneke Twins, Patience Ozokwor (Mama G), Steve Ebo alongside rising stars from the different sectors of the industry, the well-attended workshop focused on key industry specialist areas that professionals should focus on to boost professionalism and enhance investment.
Respective facilitators at the workshop offered subject-matter expert view to enhance the creative result of the industry in general and professional credibility of practitioners from the ropes of movie-making to the value chains of distribution and funding.
