Beyoncé collaborates with South Africa producer and composer to release new single titled “Spirit”
Beyoncé has released a new single titled Spirit. The song was made alongside South African producer and composer, Lebo M. and Hans Zimmer among others.
“Spirit” is featured on an album curated by the singer who also stars in the movie “The Lion King” playing the role of Nala. The album which is yet to be released is titled “The Lion King: The Gift” and would be released on 19th of July the same date as the film which is a remaining of the Disney classic.
The original soundtrack for the new live-action remake of 1994 classic will be released by Walt Disney Records on 11th of July along with The Gift. It will feature Can You Feel the Love Tonight with Beyoncé and Donald Glover.
On the new song, Beyoncé released a statement: “This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a collection of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from Afro Beat, hip hop, pop, and R&B.
Speaking on the new single, director Jon Favreau said that Beyoncé “performed and wrote in the ‘spirit’ of the production.” He added that Beyoncé created the song with Lebo M. and Hans Zimmer.
The filmmaker who also remade “The Jungle Book” stressed that: “They were all working with her and assisting to bring this new piece of song into a film where there’s already a very established musical personality to the piece. “
