Chinese Firm AVIC Erects over K5m Sports Facility for Lusaka’s Nkoloma Community

Chinese firm Avic International has erected and handed over a K5 million ultramodern sports facility, equipped with an artificial football pitch, artificial running track, netball and basketball courts, toilet facilities, viewing stands, a police post, parking facilities, floodlighting and secured by wall and iron grill fencing, to the community of Nkoloma Ward 1 in Lusaka’s Kuku compound.

The facility will help the Zambia produce great sports men and women that will bring glory to country.

Receiving the sports facility on behalf of the community, Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Lawrence Sichalwe who is also Chawama Member of Parliament and Nkoloma Ward 1 Councillor Tasila Lungu, said the construction of a sports facility in Kuku compound demonstrated government’s commitment to provide the community with a world class sporting facility in a safe and secure environment.

Also explaining the purpose of the project which was born from an idea by Councillor Tasila Lungu, Avic International Senior Consultant Lei Yingqi said the world class sports facility to the residents of the area will allow them to maximise their sporting potential.

Thanking Avic International at the handover ceremony which was also attended by the Mayor of Lusaka and ward councillors of Chawama constituency, for partnering with her in providing a recreational facility to the people of his ward, Nkoloma Ward 1 Councillor Tasila Lungu explained that the project took about 2 years to come to fruition and urged the community to take good care of the facility.
