In what has been described as Disney’s first of a kind collaboration with African entertainment, the American entertainment conglomerate has finalised plans with Kugali to launch the animated series titled Iwaju in 2022.

Kugali, arguably the largest African comic book is an African entertainment company that tells the African story using arts and comic books.

The animated series, Iwaju – meaning Forward, according to Disney would be a science fiction genre set in a futuristic Lagos and would “explore themes of class innocence and challenging the status quo”.

The collaboration would be a mutually benefiting relationship as Disney looks to bring in its expertise in animation creation to complement Kugali’s impressive storytelling.
