Nigeria’s D’Tigress Gets 1st World Cup Win Beating Turkey in Basketball
Nigeria’s women national basketball team the D’Tigress secured her first ever World Cup win at the ongoing 2018 FIBA Women World Cup in Tenerife Spain, beating Turkey 74 – 68 in a thrilling encounter.
The team lost to Australia 86 – 68 in the group opener on Saturday.
Top performers for Nigeria include shooting guard Sarah Ogoke with 20 points the highest in the encounter, small forward Atonye Nyingifa with 13 points, power forward Evelyn Akhator, 12 points and forward Aisha Mohammed with 10 points.
The D’Tigress final group game will be against Argentina on Tuesday, September 25th. The South American team has lost to Australia and Turkey in their first two group stage matches.
