Every success story almost always comes on the heels of an embarrassing first effort, a setback or a radical change of direction. These first clumsy steps on the road to fame and fortune can be fascinating.

It is often thought or assumed that people who are successful are just geniuses made for great things, but then the failure factor, the setbacks are common and essential ingredients in many success stories.

Knowing about a hero’s early flops and foibles might disillusion some people, but indeed it should be comforting since every being set out on the road to achieve their dreams must have some few bumps along Success Street. No one gets it on the first try, who became a success story.

No setback is permanent. Success, is less a matter of innate talent and more the product of perseverance, a willingness to stumble and bounce back with each fall.

There are also people who have impacted greatly our world by their resoluteness in standing up for worthy causes, which also brought them fame and wealth. They sacrificed their comfort, life, families and resources for such causes. They are heroes whose lives provide a mirror in which we behold ourselves, if a hunger lies within to impact our world and bequeath worthy legacies.

From Oprah Winfrey to Maya Angelou, Marlon Brando to Malcolm X, scores of these successful people have tales of their less promising early days and struggles.  You would be amazed at what solace you’d find reading about the obstacles that famous figures had to overcome.

So if you are zonked out in life, abandoned or rejected; if no one has ever complimented your genuine effort at even pleasing them, making you discouraged, and shirking your belief in yourself, lf you have ever been told you cannot make it because you are considered not qualified in some way, that is absolutely false. Get up my friend, dust yourself, shake the feelings of despondency off and pursue your dreams. Yes you can make it. Speak it aloud to yourself again and again and then go for it.

The world is sure waiting to hear that success story.
