Johannesburg, South Africa (ADV) – Zambian Minister of Gender, Elizabeth Phiri braved women recently to actively participate in political governance as might help in closing social, economic gender gaps while opening officially, the 63rd United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) event, in New York.
“But women have to vigorously participate in the political governance of countries if the social and economic gender gap has to be secure for sustainable development.”
Phiri further highlighted that educated women in her country are snubbing politics because of a belief that it is only males that dominate, saying this has often been aggressive and spiteful to the female gender.
Also, she revealed that the Zambian government remains to create a permitting environment for the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls through a variety of innovative strategies meant to close the gender social, economic and political disparities.
