Nollywood gifted actress, Adesua Etomi-Wellington is set to voice the lead character of Malika: Warrior Queen. The creator of the much-anticipated animation series of ‘Malika: Warrior Queen’ made the announcement on Instagram during the week.
Malika: Warrior Queen was written by Rite Okupe; founder of Youneek Studios. The film which is set to feature the talented actress is about a warrior queen and a military commander in pre-colonial Africa. The brilliant film also features Niyi Akinmolayan as its director and Roye Okupe as its writer.

Speaking on the animation film, Roye Okupe said, “I have to give credit again to Niyi, who directed the highest grossing movie in Lagos -The Wedding Party 2. When we were discussing who we would want to voice the lead character, ‘Adesua’ was the first person that popped into my mind to voice it. Not only is she a star, but she is also talented”.
“After we both contacted her, she said it would be a dream for her to do it. She came on board in October after we both agreed to terms. Lots of credit also goes to the material because she was able to see some of the stuff we’ve done with Malika, and the track record we have created with the graphic novel”, Roye said.
“I’m already looking forward to when people will start hearing her performance because she is just so amazing at what she’s done with the character in this short period. It’s an amazing 14 minutes. You basically get to experience how an African Queen lived her life in the past”, Roye added.
Malika: Warrior Queen began in 2017 as a 150-page book.
Maliaka is a story of a lady who inherited the crown from her father in the most unusual circumstance, splitting the Kingdom of Azzaz in half. After the civil war, Malika was able to bring together all of Azzaz, expanding it into one of the largest empires in all of West Africa. But the expansion came at a cost.
Enemies started rising within her council, and Azzaz grabbed the attention of the most feared superpowers the world has ever known: the king Dynasty. As Malika fights to win the war within her walls, she must now turn her attention to an indomitable and treacherous foe with plans to vanquish her entire people.
