Following the slogan “That’s the African Way – discover your way”, leading provider of international money transfers, MoneyGram is contributing to Africans studying in Germany by supporting them from a distance, knowing how difficult it can be for Africans in Germany to settle in their new home country while keeping close ties to family and friends in Africa.
MoneyGram offers its African customers many options to send and receive money. Senders can either visit their nearest MoneyGram location around the corner or they can visit moneygram.de to send money online. The amount can be collected in cash within minutes at one of more than 30,000 MoneyGram locations. To save your loved one’s time, money can also be sent directly to a bank account or to a mobile wallet. It goes without saying that customers benefit from low fees and great exchange rates. For example, online money transfers to any bank account in Ghana only cost €0.99.
However, MoneyGram offers more than fast, reliable and affordable money transfers to the African community. The company supports African charities and associations and is frequently seeking interaction with the diaspora. Recent examples: The offering of Afrika! Community Awards sponsoring and the #thatsmyway Video Competition, both initiatives which have been implemented with the popular online portal Afrika!
Until the 31st of August individuals, associations or companies from the African diaspora can apply for sponsorship of altogether €3000! MoneyGram & the Afrika! Portal hand over the awards in 4 categories: Sports, Social Engagement, Companies & Cultures. A jury consisting of representatives of the African Community and MoneyGram will choose the winners. The four first places in each category will win a €500 MoneyGram sponsorship, the four-second places will receive €250.
The #thatsmyway video competition, initiated by MoneyGram and Afrika! is calling for video messages from Africans in Germany. All you have to do is to upload a short video where you briefly explain where you are from, how long you have been living in Germany and what’s “your way of life”. Once the video has been uploaded on www.afrikaportal.eu, participants should motivate their friends to vote for them. The winner will obtain a trip to his or her African home country.
