A black-owned fatherless children foundation has successfully reunited 3,112 fatherless children to their biological fathers. Dr. Torri J. Evans-Barton is the Founder and CEO of the Fatherless Generation Foundation Inc. (FGFI). This foundation is the first and only foundation that unites lost children with their fathers.

One out of every three African American children grew in a fatherless household. According to the National Center for Fathering, 72.2% of the U.S population believes fatherlessness is the most significant family or social issue facing America.

After reuniting with her biological father at 31-years old, Dr. Torri found her purpose in helping fatherless individuals heal from their fatherless journey through reunification. Over the last six years, she has had her “Father’s Day” segment on The Rickey Smiley Morning TV Show. There, she reunites fatherless children with their biological fathers and gives hope to others that one day they will be reunited.

Dr. Torri is also a recipient of The President Obama Lifetime Achievement Award. Also, she has won other prestigious awards, solidifying her as a fatherless and reunification expert. Even more, she has been featured on BBC Radio, CBS Radio, NBC Black and Jet Magazine.

“Finding my biological father at age 31 caused me to realize the role fathers play in the psychological, emotional, and spiritual development of a child. I believe if possible, all humans should have the same opportunity I was provided. By reuniting with my biological father, I was positioned to heal from the trauma fatherlessness caused me”, Dr. Torri said.

TFGF is the first, and currently, the only foundation reuniting fatherless children with their biological fathers. There are many reasons why fathers are absent. Dr. Torri believes that due to its mental health issues, the fatherless pandemic is an intergenerational trauma. And now is the time to help every father who desires to do what it takes to be present in the lives of their children.

Dr. Torri has faith in her mission of reunification, reconciliation and forgiveness so much. This is why she is currently on a 19 city “I’ve Got Daddy Issues Tour”. She is working with fatherless adults to help them connect the dots to the trauma of their fatherless journey. She helps them acknowledge the pain and heal in order to have the kind of lives they dream of.
